Tried & True: Part I

I’m utterly addicted to denim right now and with a strong season coming up there are so many new shapes and styles to try out.  In today’s post I’ve teamed up US super brand Forever 21 to share with you their latest offering of denim styles for Autumn/Winter 15.

There are few key shapes/fits which I would like to focus on, simply because they are my faves.  First up we have The ‘Boyfriend’; slouchy, loose and relaxed!  These have to be my go-to jeans, they’re comfortable but paired with a simple tee and a blazer they still have the versatility to look super chic!  I love to turn up the cuffs on boyfriend jeans and wear them with a killer pair of heels.

Next up we have The ‘Mom’: a signature high waist and tapered leg.  This style of denim was a huge hit in the 90’s and I always thought when ‘mom’ jeans reappeared on the fashion scene a couple of years back that there would be no way in hell I would wear them.  I was soooo wrong.  Thing beauty of a mom jean is the way they can emphasise your figure.  Unfortunately I was not blessed with curves, I have a very boyish frame, so the mom jeans are great for accentuating my waist line and giving the illusion of actually possessing a pair of hips, hurrah!

The Skinny fit jean was the only thing I would wear for a good five years once I spotted Kate Moss wearing them, I literally love her (who doesn’t?!)…and the jeans.  They are now and will forever be a classic wardrobe staple and something I will never be without.  Versatile is definitely the word for this shape!  A pair of skinnies can take you from day to night by the simple change of a shoe and additional of a blazer.  More recently I’ve discovered this slightly cropped (‘ankle grazer’) length and I’m loving it, is there something sexy about flashing a bit of ankle? I don’t know but the jeans are a winner!

On to the wild card; The Wide Leg.  Admittedly this is the first time I have tried a wide leg denim but I’m not going to lie, I dig them.  They aren’t much different to a palazzo, in fact it comes down to just the fabric.  With the influx of retro trends over this season and more coming our way for AW15, it’s definitely a style to get on board with.  You’ll see in Part II of this Tried & True post (coming soon!) how I styled them.

Forever 21 have a huge range of denim, but their USP is definitely the price point!  ALL of the jeans in this post are under £25, errrr bargain!  There are even more styles available online and in-store so don’t forget to check out The Flares, The Girlfriend and The Super Skinny fits!

Stay tuned to see how I style these jeans for Part II of this post
