A blogger friend of mine, Kylie, who I went on the Next Island trip with said to me ‘I thought I was over the maxi dress, but then I found the perfect one’ and I found myself agreeing with her, however I had yet to find my perfect one. I’ll give you three guesses what I’ve now found? 😉 That obvious eh?
This Grecian style maxi from Beach Cafe UK is all kinds of perfection. The length for one is perfect for me and my 5ft9 frame, I find it impossible to buy maxi dresses which aren’t swinging up around my ankles! Who’s with me? It also allows you to show off just the right amount of flesh with thigh high side splits, slashed neckline and open sides.
I think I’ve said this before but I always thought dresses were a bit of a cop out when it comes to styling, because the outfit is done and dusted in one piece. But sometimes less is more and accessories can be fun to play around with. In keeping with the Grecian theme I teamed the dress with my cream gladiator sandals which I just tied around the ankles rather than going OTT and lacing up my leg. It is after all, fashion and not fancy dress. I’ve been sent loads of these metallic tattoos and so this was the perfect time to test drive one of those which I fixed around my arm, although an actual arm cuff would work just as well. The pearl ear cuff, rings and bag just add the finishing touches to my ‘summer in the city’ look.
