The Everywear Challenge

Every season I'm on the look out for those core pieces which are going to be versatile enough to carry me through the season.  So today I've teamed up with M&S to bring you 4 looks based around 4 staple pieces, all of which are super versatile and can create a number of outfits, both smart and casual.  Head over to the M&S site to see how 4 of my fellow bloggers are wearing them for some serious outfit inspo.

The White Shirt

The white shirt is my go-to item, if all else fails or if I’m struggling for inspiration, a white shirt can work with pretty much anything…and it always looks chic.  I always team mine with straight or boyfriend fit denim for a more casual look.  As you can see here I’ve layered a trench coat over the top and paired with some ballet flats for a chic every day outfit.  But the styling options for a white shirt don’t end there; wear under a suit or with a pencil skirt for work and team with some sleek black cigarette trousers and some statement jewellery for an evening look.  If you’re ever stuck for a day to night piece, the White Shirt is a winner.

Mules

If there’s one thing we all search for it’s an every day heel.  I’m quite tall as it is but I always like to add a little more height with my footwear.  Theses block heel mules are the perfect everyday heel height and I can guarantee they will be such a great summer staple.  I’ve teamed mine with some black straight leg jeans which I’ve customised by fraying the hems and this on trend gingham top with amazing flared sleeves.  The outfit is relatively simple with only 3 core pieces but it looks effortlessly chic.

The Jacket

Springtime in the UK is my favourite, however it does also come with a decent amount of rain.  And there’s nothing more frustrating than leaving the house in the morning in glorious sunshine for the heavens to then open at lunch.  I’ve been in this predicament many times and this lightweight jacket would have been my saving grace.  The hood neatly folds away in the collar so it transforms into a pretty cute little jacket.  With it being a neutral colour it goes with pretty much everything and today I’ve paired it with a cashmere sweater and some straight leg jeans for a casual but chic ‘off-duty’ look.

Skinny Jeans

Denim is one of my biggest weaknesses and skinny jeans are something I just can’t live without.  They are incredibly versatile and work equally as well for doing the school run, in a hoodie and trainers, as teaming with a satin camisole for a night out with the girls or even a hot date.  In the look I’ve styled here I wanted to show the versatility of a pair of skinny jeans by layering this khaki shirt dress over the top.  It’s just another option for a smarter look and will work perfectly in Spring when it’s not quite warm enough to bare those legs.
