The Classic Wardrobe Staples Every Girl Needs

You guys know I'm always one to champion a good classic wardrobe staple and today I'm at it again with one of my new favourite brands Hush.  As a lover of a well made pair of jeans and a breton stripe here and there I have no idea how Hush has escaped my fashion radar over the years but it had.  They approached me a few weeks back to work on this project and when I went to check out their site I was hooked after 2 seconds.  If you're already in the Huh fan club then you'll know what I mean, if not then go check out the site, I guarantee you'll fall in love with their collection!  There's also a cheeky little competition below where you can win a £200 Hush Gift Card to spend on vamping up your Autumn/Winter wardrobe, see below for details.

Today I'm focusing on those classic wardrobe staples which are perfect for creating an understated but chic look for Autumn (and to be honest, all other seasons).  First things first it is a very firm belief of mine that every woman should own a Breton stripe top or knit.  I have several but this stripe knit from Hush is my first black on white number, and I have to admit it does make me feel less Sailor and more Parisian chic.  The quality of Hush Knits are incredible and are certainly worth the money, you may have also seen me wearing this 'Etoile' slogan knit over on my social media channels.  I sized up to a size M in both knits as I wanted them to be cosy and oversized to create this look.

Now on to these jeans because let's face it, there's barely a day that goes by where I don't swaddle my legs in denim and I do love to road test denim from any new brands I'm introduced to.  Naturally I went for the boyfriend fit jeans and rolled them up into not-so-neat cuffs at the hems.  As with the knits, they're well made from quality fabric and therefore fit perfectly.  They have a stretch element to them which makes them super comfortable unlike the stiff denim you get from a pair of Levis.  I love the cute star detail stitching on the back pocket, it's a nice little feature which sets them apart from other denims.

This wouldn't be an autumnal look without a wool scarf which you can hunker down in when fighting that battle against the wind.  Now in my opinion there's no better combo than Breton stripes and a camel scarf, I hope you will agree?  But if not it also comes in navy and grey.  When it comes to scarves I live by the motto 'the bigger the better' and this wool scarf with fringe detail is like a giant blanket which makes for a must-have Autumn/Winter companion.

As the temperature starts to drop you can start to add some layers to this look.  A leather biker jacket can be layered over the top to add a bit of an edge to the look or if you love those super cosy vibes then why not double up your knits and layer with a long cardigan over the top.  When Winter comes I'd go for something like this green parka coat, which is currently right at the top of my 'Wish List' and a pair of ankle boots.
