It’s that time of year where I start to focus on the trends for the new season and today’s post is all about the biggest trend in footwear for Spring/Summer 2016; Rounded Toes. For years I’ve been obsessed with the point, the pointier the better in fact but as you may have seen over the last few weeks those points have been substituted for the smooth lines of the round toe. Last summer I began my love affair with all things retro and these rounded toes have a slight affiliation with that era, and so you’ll notice that most round toe shoes are paired with a block heel, and I LOVE a block heel! The combination of these two design elements make this season’s hottest footwear the most comfortable ever!
So I’ve teamed up with one of my all time fave shoe retailers, Dune London, to show you how to style 3 pairs of round toe beauts for day to day, work and evening wear.
Check out the full range of round toe styles available from Dune here.
CASUAL
My weekend style is always super casual and it normally consists of a pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans with a tee and a blazer or a chunky cardi as seen in this look. I like to feel comfortable but I don’t want to lose my personal style so I often dress up a casual look with a pair of heels. The beauty of a round toe heel is that they are 100% more comfortable than a pointed heel, no crushed toes here! These silver round toe pumps were the perfect option for bringing this super casual weekend look to life, they’re fun and the combination of the block heel and rounded toe meant that my feet weren’t screaming out in pain as I wandered around Notting Hill picking out my flowers for the week.
WORK
OK so my job isn’t so much a ‘normal job’ but I do often need to dress smartly for meetings with brands so this is my twist on the work wear look. Jeans are my go-to, but you may want to substitute these for a pair of tailored trousers if your workplace is not of the denim-loving variety 😉 You all know I have a slight fetish for shirts and they are perfect for wearing to work, I’ve gone for a printed silk shirt for today’s look to make it a little more wearable for my day to day life. I’ve layered this double breasted navy blazer over the top to add an element of sharp tailoring to the mix. To finish off the look and add a slightly feminine touch, it’s these nude round toe mid heels. You know I’m going crazy for this kind of shoe at the moment and they are so versatile. Not only are they the perfect height for all-day wear but they look great with pretty much everything!
EVENING
When it comes to dressing up for the evening I’m not much of a dress kinda gal, I prefer something with a little bit more edge, depending on the event of course. This look is typically something I would wear for a girls night out, starting my failsafe biker trousers and teaming with a sheer feminine blouse and a black blazer. Obviously heels are the only way to go for a girly night on the town so these black block heels are perfect for the look. Again the rounded toe means optimal comfort and so I find that this allows you to go sky high with the heel height.
