Sleeve Detail

wedding date tattoo, gold layered necklaces, black outfit

I hope you’ve all had a chocolate-filled Easter weekend, I can’t even begin to tell you how many calories have been consumed in this house, mainly by me 😉  Today I’m going to chat a little about updating those staple pieces to reflect the season’s trends, but without spending a fortune.

As you all know I have a severe weakness for blazers, in particular black blazers.  My wardrobe os overrun by blazers but I wear one on an almost daily basis so this is a piece that I like to have a vast array of.  The latest addition to my blazer collection has a touch of ‘trend’ to it.  Fluted/flared/bell sleeves have stuck around this season, remnants of those massive 60’s/70’s trends which made it big last year.  So when I spotted the sleeve detail on this black blazer, I knew it would be my new-season update on the classic I wear so often.

Now the one morsel of advise I would give when selecting a trend driven piece, keep it purse friendly.  Invest in classics and if you want to inject some current trends into your looks, keep them high street.  Zara is always a great option for picking up these kind of pieces because it always looks high end, the downside?  Every other fashion slave has had the same idea, so we all wind up wearing the same shit, I call them ‘Zara Droids’, and yes, I’m a Zara Droid too.  So try and widen your horizons, this blazer is from an awesome online retailer called Storets.  I used to shop at Storets back in the early days of blogging but have recently re-discovered the brand, and with one look at this blazer, I was back in love.  You can pick up some very unusual pieces, think Vetements to Ellery pieces…minus the price tag!

I must quickly address this box bag because I’m sure after seeing it on my Instagram feed, and even seeing it in this post (up until the point you scroll down to the details) you’ll be under the assumption that I’ve gone a spent a sickening amount of money at Celine.  Well myself and my bank balance are rather happy (and a little smug) to announce that this is in actual fact…A DUPE.  There has been a drought in bag dupes here on EJ Style since my designer bag addiction kicked in, and I have to admit as much as I used to love a dupe, I do prefer and appreciate the real deal.  However, this little beaut was sent to me by my fave dupe emporium Jessica Burman and I have to say, it’s a pretty fine specimen and will certainly tide me over until I finally make a decision to whip out my plastic in Celine.  This bag is real leather, and that’s one quality that I look for in a handbag these days, beach bags and the odd Zara bag aside.  It’s structured just like the real ‘Box Bag’ and the hinged lock is pretty much identical.  See below for the range of colours that it comes in and you do the math…£2300 vs. £60.
