With the recent miserable weather an Autumn/Winter press day actually disn’t seem that out of place. On Thursday I headed to the New Look press day showcasing their Autumn/Winter 12 collections. A few Mojitos after my arrival (insert drunken emoticon here) and I started to take in what they had to showcase. I started with shoes and accessories and I personally think this is their strongest asset for next season. The designs on the footwear are incredible and clearly designer inspired (Check out the cut away McQueen style heeled boots). I was given a tiny scanner to scan anything I fancied, I think I may well have scanned practially their whole footwear collection. Wedges were everywhere, with hints of other trends like gothic glam (studs a plenty), animal print, tartan and houndstooth and a hint of lace (Another of my favourites being the lace shoe booties!). The jewellery seems to focus on the punk rock stigma but of course that’s right up my street as I love to wear edgy pieces with feminine outfits. They have a great range of studded collars and necklaces.
Moving downstairs to the basement of thier press showroom, I went to absorb the clothing collections. There’s not much colour but where there is, it’s used in the right places. I fell in love with a pink & black boucle tweed short suit (bag & shoes available in the similar fabric), cute puppy print blouse and ‘must-have’ coat of next season…a stunning 60’s cut, wine in colour, mid length with pvc detailing!
