Breton stripes; the one piece that everyone probably already has in their wardrobe, if not, what in the hell are you waiting for?! I mean, any trend introduced into the fashion industry by Coco herself has got to be a winner right?! I think I speak for most people when I say that as soon as Spring hits, my Bretons come out. But why should we wait? So today’s post is all about how to wear Breton stripes in Winter!
First off, most Breton stripe tops are going to be quite thin, t-shirt fabric, unless of course you can find a good jumper which will be considerably warmer but my tip is to layer. In this look I have layered a vest and another long sleeve tee underneath my long sleeve Breton top. You could also layer over a polo neck which is currently one of my favourite looks, and keeps your neck warm, yay! If polo necks are just a bit too ‘art student’ for you then add a scarf to keep your neck covered.Typically cream, navy and red all compliment Breton stripes so you could add a chunky knitted scarf or a silk scarf as I have done here. Denim is the best match for Breton stripes so add in your favourite jeans, you could wear a darker wash for Winter and lighten them up as Spring/Summer approaches. Obviously at this time of year a coat is absolutely necessary, I’ve gone with this navy belted coat but a camel coat can also look very chic, or if you’re a lover of colour, go for a pop of red! I’ve added my pop of red with my Saint Laurent bag and the detail on the scarf. Shoes wise it’s fair game, whatever your style, ankle boots, brogues, Converse, trainers or ala me, glove shoes!
