Colour! Not just a splash, but the whole ocean! I honestly couldn’t have been more suprised at how amazing Dorothy Perkins’ AW11 collections were. No offence to DP but I have never seen them as the strongest brand on the highstreet. I can offically announce, I have now changed my mind. They have really pushed the bar to a whole other level. When walking into the spacious contrasting white room where they had set up their collections, it was almost as if Frida Giannini (of Gucci) had projectile vommited in there! Not the most glamourous of metaphores I agree, but it was THAT intense, it was simply brilliant!
Again I am only limited to five pictures which is so difficult because I am so excited about these collections! How do I pick just five?! OK, lets start off with the colour; Orange, electric blue, red, purple, green and mustard, it was like a 70’s rainbow in there. Coats are wool and tailored to perfection, faux fur has made a huge return (literally!), heels are substantially chunky with a platform, trousers are high-waisted and wid leg and welcome back that trusty animal print. To contrast alongside the colour, there was a gorgeous Karl Lagerfeld inspired section with monochrome pieces, subtle embellishment and manish tailoring, it was just perfect how their pieces fit together and flow so well as a collection. This is a trend I love and will definitely be stopping off at DP to stock up and revamp my wardrobe.
There were some key pieces in these collections which I can predict as ‘sell-out-fast’ pieces, so once I get the go-agead for more pictures I will let you know which ones these are, and then I suggest you get your fisticuffs on to get them at any cost.
All in all, well done Dorothy Perkins, you have made me very excited 😉
