Basic Wardrobe Staples

The key to a versatile and stylish wardrobe (in my opinion) is basics.  I’m talking about those staple pieces which can be styled to create hundreds of looks simply by interchanging them.  I call these selected pieces my ‘base wardrobe’, and because not everyone has the same style (thank Christ! Wouldn’t that be boring?!) this works across the board.  You can add in your own personal pieces that match your own style; if you love colour, prints or textures.  One of my key staples within my ‘base wardrobe’ is a black winter coat (sizing info at the bottom of this post).  Ok, ok so I don’t own just one but my style isn’t that adventurous so I tend to stick to the basics, that just means that I buy more of them 😉

Today’s look is made up of those basics and comes together to create chic every day look.  In the boxing day sales I bought this grey jumper, a classic, and a much cheaper alternative to this Acne version I had been lusting over for what feels like years (and probably is!).  These mom jeans (fit more like boyfriend) are my most recent denim addition, and you’ll notice, zero rips (shock horror!).  Finishing the look with these heeled ankle boots and cross-body YSL it’s a very effortless look and one that’s easy to recreate.
