Happy Christmas Eve everyone! As I mentioned in Thursday's post I love to play hostess, especially at this time of year. I don't actually drink alcohol but I've picked My Top 5 Festive Cocktails which go down very well with my friends and family. They are very easy to make and as we're all normally stocked up at this time of year so you might already have most of the ingredients if you fancy making one (or all) of these tonight. They are 'Festive Cocktails' though so once Christmas is over you still have New Year to come, plenty of time to perfect those cocktail mixing skills 😉
Ingredients
Prosecco
1/3 cup blackberries plus 2 per glass for garnish
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
Sprigs of Thyme for garnish
Directions:
Mash up the 1/3 cup of blackberries to a pulp like consistency then add into a small saucepan with the water and sugar. Bring to the boil and then turn the heat down and let simmer for around 5-10 mins. Strain your freshly made blackberry syrup into a cup or container, allow to cool and add 2 tablespoons to each glass. Fill the glass with Prosecco and then garnish with the additional blackberries and sprig of thyme.
Ingredients
1 shot of Mint Chocolate Sidekick
1 shot of Vanilla Vodka (can also use regular vodka and 3 drops of vanilla essence)
Full fat milk
Light single cream
Sugar, Lemon & Candy Cane for garnishing
Directions:
Slice into a lemon about half way and rub it around the rim of the glass. Pour some sugar onto a small plate and spread out evenly. Dip the rim of the glass into the sugar, ensuring you coat it evenly. Add the Sidekick, Vodka, milk and single cream (adjust volumes depending on glass size) to a cocktail shaker full of ice. Shake well and strain into your glass, adding the finishing touch with a Candy Cane.
Ingredients
1 shot cherry brandy
2 shots Bourbon
6 black cherries
1 x lime
Coca Cola or Cherry Coke
Directions:
Start by pitting your cherries (removing the pips) and pop the cherry flesh into a mug or container. Add a teaspoon of sugar and crush with the end of a rolling pin (or similar) to form a pulp. Add this into your cocktail shaker along with the cherry brandy and Bourbon, then shake well. Fill your glass with ice and pour in your cherry alcohol mix. Top up with Coca Cola and add a wedge of lime.
Ingredients
2 shots Gin
Appletiser (or any other sparkling apple drink)
1 Lime
Cranberries, Cinnamon stick and apple slice for garnishing
Directions:
Pop some cranberries into an ice tray and fill with water, leave to freeze. Once frozen pop 3 or 4 into a glass and pour in your gin then top with Appletiser. Slice a wedge of lime and squeeze in a few drops of the juice then add the wedge to the drink as a garnish. Finish with a cinnamon stick, why? Because it's festive 😉
